How cool is this? Garden designer and TV presenter Arit Anderson styling her ‘Own It’ sweatshirt to perfection. Over the weekend, I received a lovely message from Arit, ‘ I’ve been wearing my Own It sweatshirt lots but waiting for the right occasion to take a quick photo. I was finally out with a friend and found the perfect backdrop!’ At Shoreditch House after seeing Van Gogh (the fabulous Portraits exhibition at the revamped Courtauld Gallery is well worth a visit), the graphic painting with a pink panel highlighted her outfit brilliantly. Arit worked in fashion for 25 years before discovering horticulture in her 40s; swiftly going on to win several awards and gain regular presenting slots on BBC Gardener’s World and Garden Rescue.
Of course, I asked 53-year-old Arit what she was wearing with her age-positive TNMA sweatshirt: a scarf bought in India, an old coat from Zara, the jeans were a sample from a friend who runs a denim suppliers, the plimsolls are Converse All Stars. We then had a quick chat about making the most of the clothes you already own and Arit continued, ‘ I always wheel out old faves, some may be horrified by my hoard but I do try to resuscitate clothes. And I love finding unique pieces in prints and colours that you don’t spot everywhere.’ She lists independent brands, Kemi Telford, Mrs Lang and Ridley London as her top three. The layered necklaces look ace, too. Arit knows her style.

This pink sweatshirt, made in collaboration with Dandy Star, is emblazoned with the age-positive slogan ‘Own It’ – which refers to standing our ground rather than chasing youth. Owning ourselves, owning our space and owning our age. I love seeing pictures of women wearing them, please keep them coming!
Arit Anderson is one of the loveliest, most charming podcast guests I’ve spoken to and I can’t wait to meet her IRL. If you missed the episode, you can listen to it HERE.
